For the past two years, I’ve been dealing with tiny Argentine ants invading my hives. These ants are so small that the bees can’t effectively defend against them. The most effective solution I’ve found is using vegetable oil.
To implement this, I built pallets that hold four hives each, supported by legs similar to bed frames. Each leg stands in a tin can filled with vegetable oil. This simple setup creates a barrier that keeps the ants away. It’s highly effective, eco-friendly, and avoids chemical pollutants since I use edible oil!
With these new pallets, I designed a central support system that leaves the middle open, allowing the hive to be tilted forward during the rainy season. This ensures proper drainage and helps protect the bees from moisture buildup.
